Current Newsletters

We've stopped placing up-to-date newsletters on the web and will be placing them in your child's cubby. If you miss the web updates please let us know, we currently believe that the newsletters here are valuable for 1) new Imagine parents looking for a representative year worth of newsletters and 2) prospective parents reading this webpage to learn about us. Thanks!

Spring Newsletter

Our spring garden looks beautiful after our spring celebration. It was a wonderful day at Imagine. Thank you to everyone who was able to participate and contribute.

We are developing a resource room for our teachers and are starting to stock up. If you have things from around the house that are not useful to you but that we can find creative uses for, please bring them in. Some examples of items that would be useful are glass jars of various sizes, old art supplies, storage containers, boxes of various sizes, crates, old flower pots and gardening supplies, extra paper, foam veggie trays, clean recyclables, etc.

Water table days for 1’s & 2’s are Wednesday afternoons and Thursday Mornings. Please be sure there is a sufficient change of clothes in your child’s cubby, especially on those days.

*Check out our giving tree soon to be on display by the front door.

*Check your child’s change of clothes to be sure they are complete, weather appropriate and labeled.

*Check the lost and found – we’re going to donate whatever is left in the middle of May.

*Please be sure to label all of you child’s clothing and belongings to avoid them going into the lost and found.

Our last day of school is Friday, June 1st. We will have a big water day that morning, so send your child to school in a bathing suit (send swim diapers if necessary).

We hope you and your family will be able to join us for A Day at the Park on Saturday, June 2nd. It will be held at Westside Park at 11am. This will be a social event at the park. There are no time constraints or organized activities, just fun at the park. Bring a picnic lunch if you would like. In the event of rain, the play day will be cancelled.

During camp in June & July we will have regular Water Days. Monday & Tuesday mornings will be Water Days each week – wear bathing suits to school, bring a package of swim diapers to keep in your child’s cubby if he/she is not potty trained and put a regular diaper on for school (because of their design, swim diapers don’t hold peepee very well). Along with a change of clothes and swim diapers, please be sure to provide a towel for water days.

March Newsletter

Now that the cold and flu season is coming to an end, we are looking forward to moving into the Spring with lots of healthy children and beautiful weather.  Our Celebration of Spring will be Tuesday, March 20th.  Parents are invited to join in on the festivities.  Look for a flyer with the details as it gets closer.

March 5th – 9th is the letter “P” week for the preschoolers and so we are going to go for a Picnic at Paynes Prairie on Friday March 9th!  We are going to meet at Imagine @ 9am and carpool, because at $4 per car, it makes sense not to take more cars than necessary.  Don’t forget to sign up on the front board.  Infants thru 2 year olds are invited with a chaperone.  Bring a picnic lunch and $1 for each child.

We have opened all remaining spots to new children as of March 1st.  If your family wants a space after that date, please contact Daniella to find out if anything is available.  Spaces are limited.

Please check your child’s change of clothes to make sure it is complete and weather appropriate.

*Reminder*    Imagine will be closed for the week of April 2nd – April 6th for Spring Break.

December Newsletter

Imagine now has t-shirts, onesies, and accessories!
Check them out by clicking the
button on our website.

We have some happy news and some not so happy news this month.  The not so happy news is that Nicki has decided to spend more time with her son before he goes off to big boy school in the fall, so she will not be back at school in January :(

The really happy news is that our teachers, Katy & Stephen, finally had their baby on Thanksgiving day!

The new addition to Imagine’s family:
Mandela Asher Blue Marsh, she was 7lbs. 1oz. and 20 inches long!
She is beautiful and perfect and has already come to visit Imagine.
Katy can’t wait to come back – we are trying to convince her to take it easy and enjoy this time at home with her baby, but she is starting to get cabin fever.

More exciting news:  We are adding a new one year old classroom because we are dividing the 1’s up – the younger 1’s will be in a classroom on their own and the older 1’s will officially join the 2’s.  We are also adding a teacher.  We like to hire people we know or who come recommended (especially from parents!), so if you know someone you think would be a good fit, send him/her over to fill out an application.  We look for creative, reliable, responsible, compassionate individuals who love working with young children.

REMINDER:

Imagine will be closed Monday, December 18th – Monday, January 1st for Winter Holidays.  We will re-open Tuesday, January 2nd.

November Newsletter

The field trip to Morningside Nature Center was lots of fun! We are looking into another fun field trip in the beginning of 2007.

Our 2’s teacher, Katy, has taken off to prepare for the arrival of her new baby. We’ll keep you posted about any action! We are happy to add our new teacher, Brenda, to the Imagine family while Katy is out.

Our Halloween Party is on Tuesday, October 31st at Imagine. Festivities will begin at around 10:30am. Children who do not attend on that day or time are welcome to attend with a parent. Wear your costumes! We will have a little parade at 9am, just to show our costumes off to each other, after that, we will play on the playground as usual. We will have a special snack – if you would like to bring something, please no candy or treats high in sugar. We will also be doing some fun projects. Hope to see you there!

Our Autumn Potluck will be at Imagine on Tuesday, November 21st. A sign up sheet for dishes to bring will be posted on the bulletin board within the next week. We will congregate at Imagine at 11:30am and our feast will begin shortly after that. We hope that the weather will cooperate so we can have a picnic lunch on the playground.

Imagine will be closed from Wednesday, November 22nd – Friday, November 24th for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Please remember to sign your child in and out on the sign in sheet at the front bulletin board everyday. This is required by the childcare licensing agency.

*Bring copies of new physicals and immunizations as you get them to keep your child’s file up to date*

October Newsletter

 News

We are planning a field trip to Morningside Nature Center on Wednesday, October 18th.  We will be meeting at Imagine at 8:30am or at Morningside at 9am.  We will need almost full parents participation for preschoolers.  The infants, 1’s & 2’s are welcome to join in on the fun with a parent.

The 2’s room has started our potty tree!  The children are very excited to put stickers by their pictures if they use the potty.  If your child is potty training or going to start soon, please send a picture if you have not already done so.

Business

Due to the occurrences of serious allergies to peanuts, Imagine is trying to be more conscious to be a peanut free environment.  Please help us by replacing peanut products in your child’s lunch with healthy peanut free alternatives (e.g. sunbutter & almond butter are good in PB&J’s).

Now is the time to check your child’s spare clothes and add a sweater or a jacket.  It’s a little bit chilly on the playground in the morning, so please be sure to send clothing to keep your child warm.

One of our goals for your children is to increase independence, so please send shoes that your child can learn to put on independently (this message is mainly for 2’s and preschoolers).

If your child wears pull-ups, please be sure they are the easy open and close variety.  They cut down on diaper changing time because our teachers do not have to remove pants and shoes completely to put them on.  Our teachers really appreciate it J

Please remember that tuition is due by the 15th of each month.  A tuition drop box can be found in the office.  We also take credit so we can process it automatically for your convenience, or you can pay as you go, whichever you are more comfortable with.

*Please bring copies of new physicals and immunizations as you get them*

September Newsletter

NEWS

Our open house will be on Saturday, September 16th @ 10am-11:30am at Imagine.  Feel free to bring extended family and friends.  This will be a great opportunity to make connections with other parents and chat with teachers while our children play.  Imagine will provide a light breakfast.  We hope you can make it!

Don’t forget about our Toy & Clothing Swap!  It is at Imagine on Wednesday, September 6th from 4pm-5:30pm.  This is a parent organized swap, so if you would like to be involved in this event or others like it in the future, please let Daniella know.  How it works:  Bring your gently used clothes and toys to swap for the same number of items.  You can also purchase toys and clothes if you don’t have enough to swap for what you want.  Items to be donated without swaps are welcome too.  All proceeds will go to Friends of Imagine.

We are in the preliminary stages of planning a Farm Field Trip for October.  We can only do this with almost 100% parent participation in the form of chaperones.  When all the details are taken care of, I will post a chaperone sign up sheet on the front bulletin board.

BUSINESS

“My Day at Imagine” Sheets for the one and two year olds are loosing popularity.  We end up with big piles of past sheets every week, so we are considering figuring out a different way to communicate our daily occurrences with families.  The main items that are on the sheets are diaper changes, naps and what we ate for snack.  We change diapers regularly and most of us eat the same snacks, so we are going to start posting our daily snacks and regular diaper change times on a dry erase board above the cubbies.  We will make individual notes about unscheduled diaper changes, naps, and other parent-teacher communications.

We are creating a Friends of Imagine non profit organization that will help us do fundraising for Imagine as well as contribute charitable causes in the community.  Please contact Daniella if you are interested in being involved.

Please remember to sign your child in and out on the sign in sheet at the front bulletin board everyday.  This is required by the childcare licensing agency.

News

The remodeling of the preschool is complete and we have done a little sprucing up of the rest of the school as well.   We are ready to gear up for the new school year.  An open house is in the works for mid to late Spetember.  More details will be provided as the school year gets under way.

Business

Infants

Our infant room is packed and Mariette is excited to see all of the babies.  Bring two pictures of your child the first week of school, Mariette has some creative plans.  Please be sure the Imagine is fully stocked with diapers, changes of clothes and food.

One’s

The one’s room is also packed.  Moji would like parents of one year olds to bring two pictures the first week of school as well.  She is excited to have a small army of one year olds and hopes they are excited too.

Two’s

Nicki and Katy have big plans for the two year olds this year.  The class is not quite full yet, so spread the word.  Please bring two pictures of your child the first week of school and when your child is potty training, please supply one more photo.

Preschoolers

Our preschool is starting out small, so Erin will be teaching without an assistant for a short time.  Daniella and Judy will help out in there until we get a few more children and find just the right assistant teacher.  We are so excited to start the year.  Please bring two photos of your child to school the first week.  Spread the word about the preschool too!

July Newsletter

NEWS

Water days are so much fun! After having a few under our belts, we are recognizing the value of swim diapers. Tuesdays & Fridays will still be water days throughout July. If you arrive at or after 9am, please send your child to school wearing a bathing suit with sunscreen applied on water days. Children who are not potty trained will need to have a supply of swim diapers in their cubbies. Clothes for the day should be sent to change into after water play. We will not be filling out “My Day at Imagine” sheets for the one- and two-year-olds on water days. Don’t forget towels!

Our Summer Sun Celebration on Friday, June 30th will be a water day party that parents are welcome to participate in, but parent participation is not expected. If Friday is not one of your normal days, please feel free to join in on the fun! We’ll start the water play at about 9:30am.

BUSINESS

Attached to this newsletter is a reminder of some symptoms of contagious illnesses. If your child should have any of these symptoms, s/he cannot attend school. Please read the sheet thoroughly and be conscious of these symptoms so that we can keep our environment healthy for all of our children. If your child has had any suspicious symptoms, taken any medication, or seen a doctor in the 24 hours before school, please make a point to share that information with a teacher.

Please note: The last day of our summer program is Friday July 28th. Imagine will be closed from that day until the first day of school in the fall, August 14th.

Our classrooms are filling up for the Fall, so if your family would like a spot and have not already reserved it, please contact Daniella as soon as possible. Spots in the infant room are sparse, the 1’s room is filled up and there are a few spots left in the 2’s room and the preschool.

We are creating a Friends of Imagine non profit organization that will help us do fundraising for Imagine as well as contribute charitable causes in the community. Please contact Daninella if you are interested in being involved.

NEWS

June is here and it is beginning to get hot.  Starting next week, we will be having weekly water days on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Please send your child to school wearing a bathing suit with sunscreen applied on those days.  Clothes for the day should be sent to change into after water play.  Children who wear diapers may send swimming diapers in addition to or instead of bathing suits.  Depending on the children’s interest, we may incorporate more water days as the summer goes on – I’ll keep you posted.

Our trip to the zoo was successful, so we are planning another field trip this summer.  Any suggestions for locations are welcome.  We could not have done it without all of the family support and chaperoning – Thanks to everyone who was involved!

Spring is here and our playground is getting sunnier.  If you would like us to put sunscreen on your child while at Imagine, please supply the sunscreen and sign the note below.  We have not noticed many bugs that bite or sting on our playground, however, if you would like us to put bug spray on your child, please include it in the note below and send some to keep in your child’s cubby.  More gardening is also on our agenda for the spring.  We have some resident gardeners on staff, but welcome any input or contributions to our efforts.
